The tradition continues! To help set the scene for Halloween, groups, families and individuals are invited to join Newtown’s annual Halloween window painting contest.
Set against the backdrop of the scariest month of the year, artists of all abilities will once again descend on State and Sycamore streets armed with paintbrushes and plenty of creativity.
On Saturday, October 11 windows throughout the Newtown business district will come to life with Halloween scenes, some spooky and some humorous.
Participants can stop by the Newtown Bicycle Shop (30 North State Street) between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11 to receive window assignments. Windows must be completed by 4:00 p.m. There is a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of supplies. The rain date is Sunday, October 12.
The Newtown tradition of painting State Street store windows with Halloween scenes dates back to the 1950s.
